New Direction

One of the greatest campaign strategies I've ever known, is to not talk about those whom your running against.  For sometime I've been talking way to much about the other, who ever it has been or is.  As a liberal I was always bashing or talking about Republicans and Conservatives, now I find myself bashing or talking way to much about Democrats and Liberals.  Well enough is enough.  I think it's time I personally begin talking about Conservatism and how it is America's answer and how it is the ideology that embraces true Freedom.  Perhaps each posting I could discuss new approaches to issues, fresh conservative viewpoints.  For example, this election year I should talk more about candidates I support rather than the reasons why not to support others.  When it comes to local issues, I should focus on the conservative approach to the issue, working towards a reasonable solution.  It's the same with being a Christian.  Instead of focusing on how Christianity is being attacked by our culture, I should focus on how Christianity can help our culture.  The point is people are looking for leadership.  People are seeking clear common sense answers to the issues and problems of our times, tired of bashing and anger.

Mainstream Mush

This morning President Bush stated he would veto the extension pushed by Congress.  I jumped on line, you know to check emails, read posts, purchase a few things and what do I see everywhere....."Bush to veto health care for children."  I love our Freedom of Press, but every day I'm sickened but the abuse and manipulation provided by mainstream media.  Yes The President will veto this proposal, to which he should.  He is standing  behind a principal that only benefits Americans, keeping the public from becoming dependant on the Government.  He states that this extension will provide coverage to those who can afford private coverage.  Those seeking to push the coverage state that if President Bush veto's this bill thousands of children will loose coverage and suffer, which is true and stated by The President himself.  He has requested that Congress pass a less extreme bill.  At first one could feel cold hearted by saying, "I support The President as he veto's health care for kids.", but what that same person, including  myself needs to state is the reality, "I support The President as he continues to protect Americans ability to provide for themselves."  or "I support The President as he supports us be fighting the growing culture of socialism."  Point is this, we cannot let Democrats, Republicans or anyone create a culture of dependency.  We cannot allow socialists to manipulate American citizens into socialism through the guise of care and passion.

Government Support

Recently my wife was telling me about an interview with a local Councilman and how he was sharing stories of having to struggle as a child and the embarrassment of using Food Stamps.  I was raised in inner-city Cleveland, Ohio.  My mother did what she could but ultimately resorted to Government support.  We'd hide the fact we had to use Food Stamps as well, shopping in the morning or night, going into stores without my friends to avoid harassment and tease.  But recently it seems popular to have Government support.  Why did we as a society look down on recieving support in the past?  I'll tell you why, we shouldn't have had to receive it.  Hard work, sober living, budgeting and time management go along way.  Everybody pulled their weight in the past, not so much any longer.  So many have to pull others, its no wonder we've slowed down.  Not in an economic sense, but in common sense.  What are we all about?  I believe America isn't just about voicing our opinion, nor our ability to become Hollywood giants who hang out with dictators.  I believe America at its core is about owning property, having the ability to build success in a Free Market, and empowering yourself in-order to empower others.  Let's make people feel bad about using Government support when they don't need it.  Its understandable to use this support when necessary.  That's why it exists, but the encouragement of abuse is something different all together.  Receiving Government support cripples the individual, it doesn't and statistically hasn't helped society.  Many of the same people who encourage Government support state that they believe the Government is trying  to take over our lives, that the Government is taking away our rights and have no business in our day to day lives.  Don't they realize that the more you ask of Government the more they can ask of you.  If you borrow money from someone that person has the right to ask you what your doing with your money.  Democrats and Liberals want to blame Bush and the Patriot Act, they want Americans to think terrorism is a guise to take our rights, when its their own bloated Government programs that have been taking American rights away since the "New Deal".  Historians state that we would have recovered from the Depression years before we did had Roosevelt not created such drastic Government work programs.  Those programs did nothing to help the unemployment rate after the fact, and it wasn't until 1954 that we began to see recovery.  It is my hope that many hard working, struggling Americans won't be lead down the wrong path.  The won't be used as political pawns as so many already have.  It is my hope that they fight, with grit for what they want.  It is my hope and belief that we are a country that loves the winner.  That loves the underdog, the one who has the odds against them.  But, on their own strength, or that of their family, rises up and encourages others to do the same.  In all fairness though, Government Cheese, to this day, was the best processed cheese food for grilled cheese sandwiches.

Who's for the Rich?

Every time I have the opportunity to share the Gospel of Conservative Thinking to liberal activists I ask one question, "Don't you want to support the candidate that will give you the greater opportunity to forward your agenda?"  The answer overwhelmingly is yes.  Then the obvious must be asked, "Don't you need funding to either organize or motivate or influence as many people as possible?"  The answer overwhelmingly is yes.  "Well then there it is, through tax relief you can obtain the empowerment needed to not only provide for yourself and family, but to advance your opinion or cause."  Normally one will say that tax relief only supports the rich.  There are so many statistics that prove otherwise.  See that part I never get;  How so many liberals act as though there allergic to money and that the Republican Party is the Party of the wealthy.  We all know that the Democratic Candidates are no stranger to cash.  The way I see it the Republican Party seems to be supported by working class America.  Take a look at any map of Red and Blue States in the last Presidential election.  It's obvious that these Red States are not the wealthiest:  The Dakota's, West Virginia, Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, Indiana, Kansas, Missouri, New Mexico.  Then take a look at some Blue States:  California, Vermont, New York, Washington, Delaware, New Hampshire, Maine, Oregon, Michigan, Rhode Island, Connecticut.  That point alone is drenched in common sense.  Can those who think this not see the scam?  Another example of propaganda taught for too long.

Green Living

Most liberals don't realize that self sufficient energy or "Green Building", which they so commonly think belongs to them as an issue, is in fact conservative in nature.  Self sufficient energy, may it be solar, wind or geothermal, ultimately provides energy independence.  Many times liberals believe "Green" living is their campaign.   To many times conservatives believe "Green" living is liberal thinking.  Both beliefs are incorrect.  Let's make this simple; Conservatism at its core is life with less dependency.  Liberalism thrives on dependency.  Green building would provide all homeowners the opportunity to be less dependant upon energy companies.  Just another example of liberals supporting conservative thinking without knowing they are.  So the next time your engaged in a conversation regarding energy, bring up "Green Building", take the opportunity to teach a liberal.  They need all the direction they can get.
